The problem/ goal they're going for is to eliminate the intermediaries between artists and listeners, as well as fix intransparent music rights ownership. There platform is powered by the AUDIO token. When artists upload music, discovery nodes on the platform distribute it, and people are allowed to listen for free. Artists are rewarded by being featured, but not monetarily. 

I think most big artists like having an intermediary between the fans and music. I would imagine it is helpful to have someone manage the legal rights and posting of your music. And if there's no monetary gain for the artists, I don't see the point in using this platform, aside from maybe growing an audience. On something like Spotify, Artists are payed by the rights holders, who are payed by Spotify.
