Civic is a blockchain-based identity solution that gives a person and businesses the ability to safely protect their information. The platform that they develop lets users access a wide range of services without needing to give out an excessive amount of their own information that could lead to potential risks. Their identity verification solution uses distributed ledger technology which also gives the user verification without also giving Civic too much unnecessary information. Users store all of their data on their device that utilizes the platform which is unlike most other identity managers. Along with their mobile cryptocurrency wallet that also functions as digital identity management, Civic also offers Health Key, its newest product that allows employers to securely verify the health status of employees and their covid status while also not infringing on the employees’ privacy. Civic was co-founded in 2015 by Vinny Lingham and Jonathan Smith and ICOed in 2018.

After looking at this company and comparing it with other cryptos in the identity sector, I would say that Civic pretty much offers the same abilities with the mobile app that they develop. I like that they give the ability to store cryptocurrencies in the wallet while also allowing users to not to have to give so much of their info to be verified for an account. However, what I find a lot more interesting is their new product Health Key. Currently, covid and covid status is extremely important especially when attempting to travel somewhere or work in person. If Health Key is able to utilize the verification process involved with Civic’s wallet, I believe a product like this could be something that a ton of people could end up using in the future when trying to create big gatherings like in person meetings. Although this coin currently has a smaller market cap than the other cryptos involved in the sector, I think if you were willing to take a risk and be patient, investing a large amount in this coin could pay off.
